What is self-care?

Self care describes the maintenance of your well-being. Your overall state of health, which includes your mental state. Self care can often help us manage episodes of depression and anxiety. By paying attention to our emotions and bodies, we can learn how to tune ourselves to our optimal state.

On this page, we’re going to look at ways we can engage in positive self care, and enhance our mood and well-being.

 
 

Meditate

Part of any regular self-care routine, should be meditation. Your mind controls everything. It regulates your heartbeat and breathing, coordinates your movements, and affects your mood. Keeping your mind in check should be top priority. Neglecting it, can often lead you down a path could lead to mental health issues.

Music

Relaxing music can help immensely with stress relief. What we hear plays a big part in how our body responds. When we listen to calming and relaxing music, we allow ourselves an opportunity to slow down. Here’s three hours of relaxing music, and you can use it while you meditate!



Yoga

Exercise can help your body release stress and tension. Yoga is a great outlet for this, as it can be done virtually anywhere! Some claim that yoga can help with blood pressure, and increase your muscle strength and tone. Before beginning any physical activity, make sure to check with your healthcare provider to make sure it’s safe — and right for you.
